A la mort d'un vieux pirate, client de l'auberge de sa mère, le jeune Jim Hawkins hérite d'une carte indiquant l'emplacement d'une île mystérieuse. Il décide de retrouver le fabuleux trésor du Capitaine Flint. Fasciné et obstiné, Jim convainc le docteur Livesey et le chevalier Trelawney d'armer un navire pour satisfaire cette quête inscensée.
